      Description

Here is one of the largest SN remnants observable in the sky.
I really like it's poetic name! This target becomes popular with AA so shouldn't we give it a better name?

Located between Albireo and 8 Cyg this SNR spans for about 4 x 3.3 degrees. Though it was discovered by T.Gull et al. in 1977 some brighter parts of it had their Sharpless IDs long before. The age of SNR is estimated to be about 25-27000 years, it's distance is estimated at 2600-3000 l.y. and it is about 230 l.y. wide. [1][2]
A difficult target, hardly visible in a single exposure. It took me 11 nights in August and September to get enough light. During this I had to change three dark-site locations because of unstable weather. Framing was tricky. After having stacked the first data I've noticed that I'd better turn the camera a little clockwise.

I was extremely excited when noticed an uncatalogued compact OIII object to the lower-left of the image. But of course most of the new discoveries are made by those who have much more clear skies So the object was found to be already a PN candidate Cop1,  PN-G 068.9+05.5. Oops...

      Clear and peaceful skies!
